The 20th Commemoration of the Kent State shootings, held in 1990, remains one of the largest-attended of all the annual gatherings. In September 1965, arrangements were made for students in nursing programs at St. Luke's and Mt. Sinai of Cleveland to spend their freshman year in residence at Kent State University.
