Townsend writes that the is sending Mrs. Ames a copy of her latest book under separate cover as a Christmas gift. She asks to be remembered to Ames's daughter and hopes the daughter will find a "Dorothy Draycott" (novel character) at Smith College. Mrs. Ames is probably Blanche Butler Ames (1845-1939); her daughter was Blanche Ames Ames (1878-1969), Smith College class of 1899.
