Holley collection, 1946 -2003.

This collection contains numerous documents from the career of I. B. Holley, Jr., who was both a history professor at Duke University and a Major General in the United States Air Force Reserves. Papers presented by Dr. Holley at various academic conferences, research papers, lectures, speeches, and manuscripts by both Dr. Holley and others, and his original dissertation proposal along with individual chapter notes, are all included. Additionally, there are faculty materials, topical files, correspondence, and an assortment of printed materials which complete the collection.

Luther Holley (1751-1826) is the progenitor of the family. He was a merchant in Salisbury, Connecticut, and across the border in New York State and he sold bar iron.
