Includes 9 autograph and typed letters, some possibly drafts, signed, initialled and unsigned, from Appleton Morgan, Westfield, New Jersey, to Isaac Hull Platt; a typed account; essays and extracts. Letters (1), (2), and (3) discuss a paper Morgan is working on; (4) and (7) discuss the Bacon and Shakespeare controversy; (5) consists of one envelope addressed to Platt in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, postmarked 1904; (6) a letter regarding the Morgan-Platt debate; (7) and (8) letters mentioning Love's labour's lost; (9) a typed letter with "copy" handwritten at the top, on Shakespeare Press letterhead, regarding an unpaid bill. Includes manuscript annotations; (10) a typescript essay on the town of Jaca and how it pertains to Shakespeare, with "Appleton Morgan" penciled-in at the top of the first leaf in an unknown hand (2 p.); (11) typescript "Comments on some of Dr. Morgan's arguments," with manuscript annotations (1 p.); (12) a typescript extract, "Sir Francis Bacon vs. William Shagsper [sic], Extract from a debate in 1903, with a Protocol (January 1900), between Appleton Morgan, L.L.D. and Isaac Hull Platt, M.D," with manuscript annotations (2 p.); and (13) a typescript of the "Extract from a debate..." The items are mostly undated.
