The Honourable Sir Malachy Bowes Daly was born 6 February 1836 in Marchmount, Quebec, to Sir Dominick Daly and Caroline Maria Gore. He attended school in Montreal, St. Mary's College in Oscott (England), and obtained a B.A. from St. Mary's College in Halifax.
