The North Dakota State Horticultural Society Records contain handbooks and periodicals. The handbooks include North Dakota Horticultural Handbooks for 1926 and 1928 published by the society, containing convention speeches, the constitution, newsletters, membership lists, and horticultural information. The periodicals include four issues (May 1938, Nov. 1938, Jan. 1939, Feb. 1944) of North and South Dakota Horticulture, published jointly by the North and South Dakota Horticultural Societies.

The North Dakota State Horticultural Society was organized in September 1923 in Valley City, ND. First elected officers included: E.C. Hilborn, President; George Will, Vice President; A.F. Yaeger, Secretary; C.A. Chinberg, Treasurer. Membership increased during the first year from seventeen to one hundred thirty.
