Describing Menton, noting that the trip has done him good: that he can "walk three miles and [has] scarcely ever a pain in [his] head." Complaining about the food, noting that "the mutton is intolerable," and noting that it is difficult to sleep and that "everything here is very melancholy." Encouraging Wilkie in his work.
