Photocopy of original records kept from 9 June 1815 to 22 Oct 1832 by the "Washington Rifle Corps" of Attleboro, Mass. organized June 9, 1815 and disbanded June 1, 1841. Records include the petition to the Governor and Council to establish the Corps; the Grant, the raising of the Corps, rules and regulations of the Corps; description of the Uniform of the Corps; and record of company meetings with notes of the admission, dismssion and death of members (7 May 1816 to 22 Oct 1832). Includes copies of letters concerning the disbanding of the Corps.

Ten companies comprised the 12th Regiment, Massachusetts Volunteer Militia: five from Boston, one from North Bridgewater, one from Abington, one from Weymouth, one from Stoughton, and one from Gloucester. After organization was completed, the regiment was ordered to Fort Warren in Boston Harbor.
