Collection includes a letter cover addressed to the Sheriff of Bedford County, 1819; two promissory notes, 1815, 1817, from George Peten of Georgetown to Thomas Peten or Peters; and two promissory notes, 1811, from Ricards, Buck & Blakemore to Norris Calwell & Co. Collection also includes an autograph signature of Alf Landon, pulled from an autograph album. Collection also contains a two page list, of places visited on a tour to Ireland, England, Scotland, and Paris, June 11 to Sept 6 of an unidentified year. Collection also includes a New York bill of lading, 1758, for the sloop "Margaret," Samuel Gifford, master, bound for Jamaica with a cargo of oak, onions, apples, and molasses. A one penny revenue stamp is embossed in the lower left corner.

Alfred "Alf" Mossman Landon (September 9, 1887 – October 12, 1987) was an American politician from the Republican Party. He served as the twenty-sixth Governor of Kansas from 1933 to 1937. He was the Republican Party's nominee in the 1936 presidential election, but was defeated in a landslide by incumbent President Franklin D. Roosevelt who won the electoral college vote 523 to 8.
