Tom Heimberg is a violist and orchestral musician. He has played in the Oakland and San Francisco Symphonies and the San Francisco Opera Orchestra. As an orchester manager at the San Francisco Opera Orchestra he worked closely with Kurt Herbert Adler, the general director of the San Francisco Opera. This volume contains introductions by San Francisco music critic Robert Commanday and world-renown musicians Arnold Steinhardt and Lincoln Mayorga who were childhood friends of Heimberg.

Biographical Information Kurt Herbert Adler was born to Ernst and Ida (Bauer) Adler on April 2, 1905 in Vienna, Austria.
