Also included are messages from various stations in Alaska including Juneau, Fairbanks, and Anchorage, and a booklet entitled "Earthquake in Alaska," which gives the story of the Associated Press coverage of the earthquake.

Ward Sims was the Bureau Chief for the Associated Press in Juneau, Alaska at the time of the 1964 earthquake in Alaska. After the earthquake, he relayed damage reports and other information from state officials to the Associated Press in Seattle, and traveled to various communities to obtain information about the disaster and provide additional reports of damage and casualties.
