Shriber collection of lantern slides. [ca. 1915]

This box contains monochrome glass lantern slides showing identified and unidentified schools in Boulder/Boulder County, and scenes in and around Boulder. Many are from photographs by Ed Tangen. Slides include views of classrooms, students, teachers, University of Colorado, State Preparatory, drawings of heating systems and a foul air extractor for schools, Boulder County Courthouse, wheat and sugar beet farming and scenic areas. Fourteen prints from this collection are available at 750-7-25.

Primos Mill was the largest tungsten mill in the world during World War I. Foundations of the mill were still visible in 1993 on the west side of Peak to Peak Highway near where it intersects with Boulder County 124E. Shriber may have used this side to promote Boulder County. Shriber was the Superintendent of Schools in Boulder from 1909-1915.
