Helen W. Pitchford Collection.

This collection primarily contains the financial and legal papers of Samuel Lindsay (also spelled "Lindsey"). They include location certificates, mining deeds, assay reports, documents pertaining to his coal land in Weld County, and business receipts. There is an 1886 receipt from the Office of Clerk of the District Court of Boulder County (Eugene Wilder, Clerk) with an engraving of the courthouse, as well as 1870-1899 rent receipts from David Evans to Samuel Lindsay for a home in Summerville, and Lindsay's correspondence and business papers. Folder 33 contains the 1916-1917 correspondence between Mrs. Charles Fairhurst and Cora E. Meginnes. Another folder contains correspondence between Frank O. Blake and Samuel Lindsay, some of which was written on paper with "The Blake Asphalt Co." letterhead. Folder 36 holds various documents pertaining to the Fairhurst family. Folder 38 contains a "Statement of Acct. Samuel Lindsey with the Black Cloud Mine" dated November 16, 1878. Folder 39 contains an unused Certificate of Deposit for the Emerson & Buckingham Bank of Longmont, printed in the 1870s. It has an engraving of a small child. Oversize folder, 779-O-1, contains Mineral Certificate No. 1093 issued by the U.S. General Land Office for the Graphic lode claim to Joseph W. Bostwick and Ephraim F. Goss on 16 December 1879.

Hugh Fraser Watts was born in Wisconsin in 1870. He and his mother moved to the Boulder, Colorado, area in 1897 for health reasons.
