Raymond D. Dzendzel was born on July 29, 1921 at Port Clinton, Ohio. He was a graduate of Redford High School and the Detroit Institute of Technology with a B.A. degree. He married Eleanor Borland in 1947 and they had four children, Sandra Kaye, Judith Ann, Cheryl Lynn, and Lee Ann.
