Abstract

These 21 folders contain a list of contents and archival photocopies of newspaper clippings from 1924-1926 which Ira M. DeLong collected in a scrapbook. They were copied to preserve and improve the accessibility of the information they contain. The articles cover most aspects of the municipal government and socio-economic affairs of Boulder, Colo., during those years. Note: another 21 folders of articles copied from this scrapbook are in BHS 349 b4 f01-21. These newspaper articles from the Boulder Daily Camera and the Boulder News-Herald feature the continuing controversies over the city's street-paving, challenges to the city's charter, investigations into the Elmer Cobb murder and the purity of Boulder's milk and water supplies, and many other issues and events of the period.

Dr. Ira M. DeLong was closely involved in the government of the city of Boulder, Colo. He was active in the establishment and operation of Boulder's city manager form of municipal government, which was somewhat of a novelty at the time. DeLong was president of a 23-member commission that drafted the city charter and constitution in 1917.
