Rev. David L. Lander papers, 1835-1922 (bulk 1882-1922).

This collection contains correspondence and genealogical information compiled by Rev. David L. Lander about his family, which at one time lived in Bourbon County, Kentucky. It also includes a history of the Lander family, written by Lander in 1882, with revised editions written in 1909-1910 and 1922. The majority of the correspondence is with various family members and concerns Lander's genealogical research. However, the group also includes letters from political leaders and university presidents, apparently in response to a survey by Lander regarding their religious views. Among those responding were Elihu Root of New York, and the presidents of Yale, Columbia, Cornell, Valparaiso, Alabama, and the American Bible Society. The collection also contains a copy of the will of Lander's grandfather, Charles Lander, written in 1835 and filed in Bourbon County.
