Representative Philip O. Mastin papers.

This collection consists of the papers of Rep. Philip O. Mastin, and is arranged in three series, all three covering the date 1971-1976. The first series, committee chairman, contains the records of the four committees of which Mastin was chairman, Community Placement, the Extension of Northwestern Highway, the Committee on Property Tax Assessment Practices, and a Labor Committee to Study Unempolyed Worker Problems. The second series, bills sponsored, contains copies of the House bills which were sponsored by Mastin. It includes correspondence, legislative reports, newspaper clippings, and printed materials. The third series, publicity, includes copies of Mastin's monthly column, Mastin's mailbox, as well as news releases, editorials, newsletters, and brochures for legislative conferences.

State Rep. Philip O. Martin, Jr. was elected to three terms representing the 69th District. The district includes the cities of Hazel Park, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge, and Oak Park. Prior to being elected to his first term in 1970, he had been active in local politics.
