This collection contains legislative records, covering the years 1971-1972 of Rep. Joseph Forbes. The records contain various bills that were introduced by Forbes. The Uniform Construction Code and possible solutions to the problems of voter registration are two of the most important issues among the numerous bills contained within the 1971-72 session of the Urban Affairs Committee papers in the collection.

Joseph Forbes was born Oct. 8, 1916, in Detroit, Mich. A Democrat, Forbes represented the 67th District (Oakland County, Michigan). He was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 1970, and served successive terms until 1984. He was elected Majority Floor Leader in 1975, 1977, 1979, 1981, and 1983.
