Interviews with Ben H. Wooten concerning his experiences growing up on a farm near Timpson, Texas; his employment as a teacher at Willow Springs, Texas (1911-1915); his activities as a student at North Texas State Normal College (1916-1917); his memories as part of the AEF fighting in France at St. Mihiel and the Meuse Argonne (1918); his employment as a principal and teacher at the high school in Alba, Texas (1919); his work as assistant cashier at Alba National Bank (1919-1923) and cashier at Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Farmersville, Texas (1924-1926); his employment as a state banking examiner (1926-1932); his selection as head of the Southwestern Federal Home Loan Bank (1932-1943); his activities as Defense Administrator for Arkansas during World War II; his tenure as vice president of Republic National Bank (1944-1950) and president of First National Bank (1950-1963) in Dallas; and his activities as chairman of the Dallas Federal Savings and Loan Association (1964-1969). The interviews also include Mr. Wooten's comments on the Great Depression, the Reconstruction Finance Corporation, price controls, and his tenure as chairman of the Board of Regents of North Texas State College and North Texas State University (1949-1969).
