Papers, 1889-1897.

This small collection contains records of marriages, baptisms, and funerals that A. A. Hyde officiated at while serving as a Methodist Episcopal pastor in New Mexico. The marriage records date 1890-1893 and 1895-1897. Some of these records indicate the occupation of the groom. The baptismal records date 1891-1894 and the burials date 1890-1891. Also in the collection is a Socorro concert program dated April 23, 1889.

Rev. A. A. Hyde was born in Vermont, Illinois, April 25, 1854. At the age of sixteen he joined the Congregational Church in Kansas. After becoming acquainted with Methodism he joined that denomination in 1880. He was ordained Deacon in 1890, and Elder in 1891. He came to New Mexico and served as pastor at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Springer and the surrounding communities until 1895.
