Henry Norwood "Barney" Ewell, of Lancaster, Pa., was a track and field record holder in high school, at Penn State (1939-1942; 1946 graduate), and won one gold (400 meter relay) and two silver (100 and 200 meter dashes) medals in the 1948 Olympics.
