Volume contains records of protests, agreements, deeds, contracts, bills of sale and receipts, estate settlements, bonds, the granting and revoking of powers of attorney and other legal statements. There is much detail about Boston's trade with the West Indies and about merchant activity in general. Includes: Contract to William James (1734 March 10) for a plantation with slaves on the island of Nevis; Court of Admirality proceedings (1737 June 7) against Capt. Samuel Rhodes for the murder in Gambia of the slave Fredricks and proceedings against Capt. Nathanial Darby for the murder near the Scilly Isles of Edward Holbrook (1738 July 14); depositions in the trial of Capt. Thomas Chapman of Marblehead for the murder of Samuel Majory of Salem (1740 March 11); the inventory of household goods and furnishings sold by Lewis Vassal to Jonathan Armitage (1743 Sept. 8); bill of lading for the sloop, Young Richard (1750 Dec. 17); record of "Demand of materials from New England for the use of Fort William [Newfoundland] Oct. 1748" (and 1749 Sept. 9), submitted by Thomas Hancock (1752 Jan. 21); inventory of household furnishings conveyed to William Grave (1753 Oct. 24); and record of a sale of a slave in Boston, 1753 Dec. 11. Ezekiel Price was a nephew of Ezekiel Goldthwait and this volume probably formed part of the Price records.
