The Archives of Cooperative Lutheranism (ARCL) files (1954-1987) contain correspondence, memoranda, minutes and agenda, reports, conference participant lists, and display materials regarding researcher's requests and inquiries; the transfer of the ARCL to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in 1987; creation of a new ELCA Archives; ARCL microfilming and oral history projects; Commission for a New Lutheran Church Transition Team activities; Lutheran Historical Conference activities; and the creation of ARCL twentieth anniversary displays and exhibits in 1982 for the Lutheran Center, New York, New York. Correspondents include Alice M. Kendrick, Records and Information Center Director; Lowell G. Almen, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Secretary; Elisabeth Wittman, Lutheran Church in America Associate. Archivist; and Walter A. Jensen, LCUSA Director of Business and Finance. ARCL files in this collection, spanning the years 1954-1987, were created under the National Lutheran Council (1918-1966); the LCUSA Offices of Research, Archives, and Statistics (1967-1973) and Research, Planning and Development (1973-1980); and the LCUSA's Records and Information Center (1980-1987).
