Bailey family papers, 1801-1876.

This collection consists of letters, invitations and a household account slip of the Bailey, Simonton and Prudden families of Hancock and Greene Counties, Georgia. Many of the letters were written from Montgomery, Alabama. Of interest in the collection is a letter dated 1813 that mentions Colonel Benjamin Hawkins and Indian troubles and another written in 1866 by William Gibbs McAdoo to Miss Prudden in which he describes his trip by water from Savannah, Georgia to St. Marys, Georgia and gives a history of the area. This collection is arranged chronologically.
