Fund-Raising Division records, 1944-1966.

The collection consists of records of the Fund-Raising Division of the UNCF from 1944-1966. The National Campaign Director files (1944-1965) document all aspects of UNCF's fund raising activities including files on each member institution, campaign meetings and conferences, and correspondence with fund raisers and others at UNCF headquarters in New York. Records relating to the Greater New York Women's Division (1946-1966) illustrate the effort of the UNCF to utilize women as volunteers within the organization and as a source of funds. Materials pertain to the division's use of direct mail appeals, fund raising techniques and results, and files on the activities by the Division to educate the public. The first (1950-1956) and second (1963-1965) capital campaign subseries document the UNCF's effort to raise money for new buildings and equipment at member institutions.
