Southern Rural Training Project records, 1967-1968.

The collection consists of records relating to the Southern Rural Training Project of the National Sharecroppers' Fund from 1967-1968. The records contain correspondence, expense records, attendance sheets, and field reports of the Project's field representatives. The field reports describe the work each representative did in organizing training programs, cooperative ventures, and development programs for the rural poor in various areas in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. Some of the field reports describe in great detail the economic conditions of the area, agricultural practices including tenant farming, and local work in race relations.
