The subgroup consists of records of the Finance Office of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference from 1957-1969. The subgroup includes records of the treasurer's office (1958-1969) during Ralph S. Abernathy's tenure reflecting both Abernathy's administration of the Office and his civil rights activities, as well as records of the comptroller and office manager (1957-1969) documenting the financial growth and record keeping activities of the Office. The majority of the series consists of actual financial documents (1957-1969) such as receipts, invoices, requisitions, bank statements, and project records maintained by the Finance Office.
