The collection consists of an oral history interview of Doyle Combs on October 13, 1989 in which he discusses barriers to blacks running for political office; Wilbanks County voting bill; armed resistance to black voting in Franklin County; voting restrictions in Stephens County compared to surrounding counties; military service during World War II; determination to vote; service on city council; election of a black mayor; increased black participation in political process; school desegregation; and Ku Klux Klan activity.
