Accompanies 10th U.S. Cavalry officer Samuel L. Woodward's manuscript Journal of an expedition to the Wichita Mountains, from June 1st to July 13th, 1868 (42 p. ; 25 cm.). Shows region in southwest Oklahoma and north central Texas; centered on the Washita and Red River valleys, extending east to the mouth of the Washita, and south to the upper Trinity and Brazos Rivers. Identifies expedition route, primary roads, and military posts. Forms part of the Papers of Benjamin Henry Grierson, Woodward's commanding officer (Ayer MS 3039 box 11).
