Papers, 1907-1989.

This collection consists primarily of publications, unpublished typescripts, and photographs. Publications include Bibles, hymnals, and a history of the Japan Baptist Convention in Japanese, as well as English- language histories of missions in Japan, a report of the Japan Baptist Mission dated 1935, and a handbook of the Mission for 1950. Of particular historical interest are an unpublished autobiographical account of the Medling's work in Japan and the thirty-four photographs in the collection. All but one of the photographs date from the period of William R. Medling's parents' service in Japan, 1907-1920. They include pictures of the Medling family and pictures of Japanese and American leaders of Baptist work in Japan during that period.
