Commonplace book containing transcriptions of sermons, essays, letters, and other Quaker tracts, 1750-1787. Includes sermons of Thomas Colley, Samuel Fothergill, and Rachael Wilson, a letter from a Friend in Ireland to Catherine Payton giving an account of Mary Peasly's death, the journal of Elizabeth Ashbridge, a copy of a letter from Richard Smith to his children, and a memorial of Hannah Smith, wife of John Smith.

Samuel Fothergill (1715–1772), was a Quaker minister from Yorkshire, England. He was the sixth son of John Fothergill and his wife Margaret, well-to-do Quakers of considerable means at Carr End, Wensleydale, Yorkshire. He was born in November 1715. He was educated at Briggflats, near Sedbergh, and afterwards at a school at Sutton in Cheshire, kept by his uncle, Thomas Hough. Chester Monthly Meeting (NJ) was established in 1803 by Haddonfield Quarterly Meeting out of Evesham Monthly Meeting. In 1827, after the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. The Orthodox meeting changed its name to "Moorestown Monthly Meeting" in 1943.
