Albert J. McQueen was born in Bennettsville, South Carolina in 1927 and earned his high school diploma in Newport News, Virginia. After a brief enrollment at the Virginia State College, Petersburg, Virginia, and service in the US Army (1946-1948), he received his B.A. in psychology from Oberlin College in 1952.
