Robert Breckinridge papers : land transactions, 1806-1812.

This collection consists of a Nov. 12, 1806, land list and an April 5, 1812, land indenture. The lands were listed with the Auditor for the payment of taxes. Two of the three tracts listed were held jointly by John Breckinridge and Holmes Hayton's Trustees of the City of Baltimore. The third tract was held jointly by Breckinridge and H. Thompson, Trustees of John Holmes and Richard Cayton, of the City of Baltimore. All of the land was located in Henry County, Kentucky. The document was signed by Robert Breckinridge, "for the claimants". The second document was a land indenture. Breckinridge promised to sell a tract of land in Henry County, Kentucky, to William Taylor. The price for the land was one dollar.

William Berry Taylor was a lawyer and land speculator who migrated from Botetourt County, Virginia, to Shelby County, Kentucky, in the late eighteenth century. After migrating, Taylor continued to practice law in Virginia as well as Kentucky. Taylor was part of the influential Taylor family that included Colonel Richard Taylor, the James Taylor's, and Zachary Taylor.
