Guard reports, 1863.

Guard reports are from the 80th Illinois Infantry Regiment while stationed at Nashville, Tennessee. Each report includes date guard mounted; date guard relieved; numbers of lieutenants, sergeants, corporals, and privates on guard detail; total soldiers on detail; name and company of each soldier on first, second, and third relief; and place posted (e.g., guardhouse; commissary; headquarters; color line; right wing). Some reports also contain a listing of soldiers under arrest which includes soldier's name and company; date and by whom confined; charges (e.g., disobedient; lying down on post); and remarks (e.g., sent to city prison; returned to guardhouse or quarters). Reports are signed by officer commanding the guard.
