Jesuit chaplain on Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville's second exploratory expedition to Louisiana and the Mississippi River. Born in Vernon, France, in 1666, Du Ru entered the Jesuit order at age twenty. He was selected for the Louisiana mission in 1699 and remained in America after d'Iberville's return to France.
