Petition to the New York State Legislature, 1825.

Petition addressed "To the Honorable the Legislature of the State, State of New York," asking them to establish the Town of Lodi because of uncomfortable population density. The "petitioners believ[e] they will be better accommodated for by a division of said Town." December 1825. 5 photocopied pages long, including 4 pages of signatures. The 332nd Infantry Regiment was part of the 83rd Division, which was deployed overseas in June 1918. The Town of Covert was formed from the Town of Ovid in 1817. At that time, the Town of Covert included the present towns of Covert and Lodi. The original petition to the legislature of the State of New York is 7.5 inches wide and 55 inches long and has one hundred sixty-seven signatures.
