Includes two holograph missionary journals (April-November 1903 and November 1903-April 1904) kept by Abel Alexander DeWitt on his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oklahoma and nearby states. Also included are two holograph journals (July 1897-November 1900 and 1901-1906) and an autograph book (1900-1901) kept by his wife, Ruth Leila Kempe DeWitt, largely concerning her experiences in Holbrook and elsewhere in Arizona; and as a student at the Brigham Young Academy in Provo, Utah, 1899-1901. Also includes photocopies and transcriptions of the volumes. Also includes a photocopy of a reminiscence and missionary journal kept by Ruth's father, Christopher Jensen Kempe, during his mission to Norway (1899).

Christopher Jensen Kempe (1837-1901) was a Mormon missionary and pioneer. Christopher Jensen Kempe was born in Denmark on June 26, 1837 to Jens Rasmussen and Ane Kirstine Neilsdatter Kempe.
