Letters, 1776-1782.

A small collection of letters written home to family by Col. Edward, John, and William Wigglesworth during the Revolutionay War. John and William's letters relate to their military activities with their brother Col. Edward's Regiment (13th Mass.), including one letter from William relating the battle of Stillwater, N.Y. on 19 September 1777. Edward's letters were written during his service with the Mass. militia, prior to his command of the 13th Mass., and after his resignation from the army. Other subjects include the presence of Tory sympathizers and hangings.
