John Muir (born April 21, 1838, Dunbar, Scotland – died December 24, 1914, Los Angeles, California), Scottish-born American naturalist, author, and early advocate of preservation of wilderness in the United States. Museum owner, local historian. Adrian, a resident of Montello, Wisconsin, was instrumental in creation of John Muir Memorial County Park on Fountain Lake, first homesite of Muir family.
