July 10, 1919, letter from Reed to Julia Cooley Altrocchi, an author, lecturer, and translator, regarding his progress in writing Tales of a vanishing river. Reed also discusses and encloses a photograph of a half-Miami, half-Pottawatomi Indian girl, Nebowir, whose portrait he planned to use for one of the book's illustrations.
