Papers pertaining to the estate of John Powell, 1963.

The collection contains nine letters concerning copyrights and the estate of John Powell and is chiefly between Richard Florance of Florance, Gordon, and Brown, Attorneys at Law, Richmond, Va., who was the co-executor of Powell's estate, and Mason, Fenwick & Lawrence, of Washington, D.C., patent lawyers. There are also letters from Florance to Ernest C. Mead regarding the disposition of Powell's musical manuscripts at the University of Virginia. A letter from Bassett Hough concerns a performance of the Symphony in A by the Washington Symphony and mentions Leo Sowerby's impressions of the work as well as interest by Van Cliburn and Hilton Rufty in the Sonata Teutonica.
