In his paper in the "Modern Language Review" in 1946 he appears to have been influenced by Kirschbaum's "Reconsideration" published in the "Review of English Studies" in 1943; if so, it was unconscious, or he would have made an acknowledgement.

Walter Wilson Greg, bibliographer and literary scholar, was born in Wimbledon Common, England, on July 9, 1875. He was the only child of the idustrialist and author William Rathbone Greg and Julia Wilson Greg, daughter of James Wilson, the founder of The Economist .
