Civil Works Administration Project appraisal cards, 1934-1935.

Appraisal cards for residential, mercantile, and manufacturing property prepared by the Civil Works Administration showing the names and addresses of owners and tenants, land descriptions, date of construction, sale or rental information, structural data, equipment value, and other factors used in assessing the value of land or buildings, and summaries and computations. Included are supplementary notes, diagrams, maps, and layouts. Records were used and updated by state district supervisors of assessments until 1937. Some records were removed for use by assessors and may be missing.

The Civil Works Administration was established by EO 6420-B, November 9, 1933, under authority of the National Industrial Recovery Act (48 Stat. 200), June 16, 1933, to provide relief work for unemployed persons through public work projects.
