Oscar and Rose Kaplan Public Opinion Surveys, 1934-1994.

Public opinion surveys pertaining to Southern California institutions, companies, and events, most of which are located in San Diego County. The surveys cover a broad spectrum of topics. Some were conducted for political campaigns, including those of Lionel Van Deerlin, Jim Bates, Ronald Reagan, and Pete Wilson. Some were conducted for court trials, including the Sagon Penn and Joselito Cinco trials. Others, commissioned by the Zoological Society of San Diego and the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau for example, reported on habits of tourists and residents. The Kaplans also conducted surveys regarding various aspects of community development. The accession processed in 2009 contains public assessment material, including surveys, questionnaires, reports, and research materials. This accession also includes general correspondence from Oscar Kaplan's other professional ventures, including committees, publications and coursework. The material in the 2009 accession dates from 1934 through 1994, with the majority of the collection spanning from 1957 through 1982.
