United States Militia Bureau circulars, 1923-1930.

This series contains copies of typed circulars that were issued by the U.S. War Department's Office of the Chief of the Militia Bureau to the Military Dept. and the Office of the Adjutant General from 1923 to 1930. The circulars include directives on a variety of administrative, personnel, and logistical subjects pertaining mainly to the National Guard.

The Florida National Guard was established in 1909 (Ch. 5930, Laws) replacing the Florida State Troops. From 1921 until 1973, the Guard was placed under the Military Dept (Ch. 8502, Laws). The Military Dept. was created in 1921 (Ch. 8502, Laws), it was directed by the Adjutant General, and its headquarters were in St. Augustine.
