Orderly book regiment artillery, ca. 1822-1828.

"Orderly book" of the South Carolina Militia, 4th Brigade (including the Regiment of Artillery) contains general orders, regimental orders, election of officers, the annual return of effective strength of arms and accoutrements, names of officers and enlisted men, and an account of the entertainment of the Marquis de LaFayette. Includes drawings in pencil possibly drawn at a later date.

Reorganized in December 1819, the 4th Brigade of the South Carolina Militia consisted of the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th Regiments. Colonel Robert Y. Hayne commanded the Brigade during the 1820s and later became governor of South Carolina. Charles W. Graves was an alarm man with the 3rd Company of one of the Regiments.
