Clippings pertain to artist Gari Melchers (1860-1932), the German Fusiliers (Charleston militia), and houses in Charleston, S.C. once owned by the Welling family and others. Memoirs by Franz Melchers (1826-1899) are entitled "My Recollections as a Soldier" and concern his service in the German Fusiliers and later in the Confederate army during the Civil War.
