In 1816, some residents in the northern part of Byberry became dissatisfied with the school at the meeting houss and wanted a school in a more convenient location. A schoolhouse was built on land which James Walton and Mardon Wilson had been willing to sell for that purpose. The School was placed under the care of Byberry Preparative Meeting and trustees were appointed annually by the Meeting to have charge of it. Mount Holly Monthly Meeting was established in 1776 by Burlington Quarterly Meeting out of Burlington Monthly Meeting. In 1827, after the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the Meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. The Orthodox Meeting was discontinued in 1828 ; its members were transferred to Burlington Monthly Meeting (Orthodox).
