Russellton Miners Clinic records, 1950-1985.

The records include administrators' correspondence, minutes of board of directors and committee meetings, financial documents, and typescripts of speeches. A controversy created by the establishment of the clinic and the ensuing conflict with the County Medical Association and local private doctors is documented, and there are news clippings and photographs from a protest against the Association. The collection contains no patient records.

The clinic was a medical group practice set up by the United Mine Workers of America in 1952 in Russellton, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, as part of the medical services unit of the union's Health and Rehabilitation program. The clinic was part of a small network that included a clinic in Washington, Pa., and another one in Bellaire, Ohio, all of which were supervised by an area administrator headquartered in Pittsburgh.
