Butler discusses her attendance at McKinley High School, including classes and activities in which she participated, fashions, her achievements as a student, memorable moments, favorite teachers, the influence of McKinley students on Baton Rouge, and changes at McKinley High School since she graduated. She discusses briefly her life after graduating from McKinley and her desire to see more community involvement among young people.

Edmae Delpit Butler (née LaMotte) was a native of Lobdell, La., who graduated from McKinley High School in Baton Rouge, La., in 1932. She later graduated from Southern University and Louisiana State University. She taught mathematics at McKinley High School for 16 years.
